Welcome to my first Sneak Peek Sunday. Each week, a group of authors share six paragraphs from a current work in progress or published piece. The entire list of this week’s participants can be found by clicking on the image above. For my part, I’ve decided to share six paragraphs from my latest release The Surrender of Julia (Now and Forever 3). Here is where we’re first introduced to The Three, the trio of gods known as the Eternal Siblings. In the chapter this scene is taken from, we learn they’ve decided to intervene in the lives of a specific group of humans all interconnected with each other. Julia’s life is the topic of conversation at the moment. Something about her tugs at the heart of the Goddess Fate and her youngest brother, Lucius.

The entire far wall of the mountainside chalet was covered with high definition television screens. Modern technology fascinated The Three. They were able to keep track of their human creations, using the very gadgets invented by them.
Lucius in particular, seemed fond of the wireless technology used in cell phones and personal computers. With a few swift clicks on the keyboard of his laptop, all the screens came to life with pictures of the people they were gathered to discuss.
Yeshua, the eldest of the Eternal Siblings, sat in a large, overstuffed easy chair, taking in all the lives playing out on the screens before him. His deep blue eyes scanned through everything in seconds, immediately recognizing those in view.
These humans were the favorites of his sister, Fate. Once again, she wished to plead the case of another of the group. Apparently, this particular human seemed to be special—to Lucius as well.
“Why should we intervene with Julia’s life path now?” Yeshua asked. “Isn’t enough we’re allowing the Guardians to help Quinn and Jacob find each other? Wouldn’t it be wise to just see how it all plays out for the rest from this point on?”
The tall, dark, brooding God of Trials and Tribulations rolled his amber eyes. “As you’ve pointed out on numerous occasions dear Brother, our interference with any life path affects more than just one creation. By giving Jacob and Quinn their chance to bond on the Island, we’ve opened up too many other variables for the others. In order to keep them all on their chosen paths, we have to give a nudge here and there.” Lucius smiled at Fate. “Your new Guardians should be able to handle all of them, although I think they’ll need your help a bit with Julia.”

Welcome to Tantalizing Tuesday here at Behind Closed Doors. Today I thought I’d go back a bit and visit with the characters that started me on this journey with the Now and Forever series. Before there was a Julia Santos and her search for her HEA with her Mistress Carmen, there was Quinn Lee Hollis (nee Quartermarsh) and her search for love with two men—Vegas Tycoon Stephen Eischer and classic bad boy Jacob Hartley. Their story was told in For the Love of Quinn (Now and Forever 1) and continued in The Island (Now and Forever 2).
I really caught a lot of flack from readers for the love triangle between those three. Many people wanted to shake the hell out of Quinn for first being in Vegas to get “laid” while she was still married to another. Yes, Jackson Hollis was a real lowlife piece of shit, but some found that objectionable. You see, the old “rules” of romance frowned on adultery. Whatever. Quinn was stuck in a loveless and sexless marriage. The hardworking veterinary surgeon was about to pop! She’d recently dropped a hell of a lot of weight and was smokin’ HAWT when she returned to Vegas for an annual veterinary conference and to visit with her sister and adopted brother. Little did she know when she arrived that her encounter with both Steve and Jake on the same night would change her life forever.
When I wrote this story, I printed off the photos of the actors who I pictured in my head when I wrote the story. Some family and friends tried to say Quinn was me—well, she is but I didn’t picture myself as her. It was the gorgeous Alyssa Milano who got that role in my head. Of course when it came to the sex scenes…hehehe. You do the math! 😉 Anywhoooo….Alyssa had all the physical attributes and characteristics I saw in Quinn so she won the part.
Steve Eischer was easy for me as well. I had his voice in my head first and his deep rumbling laughter. The actor who fit that bill to a T was Jeffrey Dean Morgan. You may all remember him best as Denny from Grey’s Anatomy or John Winchester from Supernatural. The role that clinched it for me was in The Losers. He oozed sex appeal in that film and the scenes with him and Zoe Saldana…oooooo! He had the perfect mix of stubble on his chin and slightly graying temples that made him the perfect one to play the man with “more money than God.”
I’ve had fun interviewing “Steve” a few times here on the blog. He’s hinted at a relationship between us. I’m not one to kiss and tell but if you listen to him, I’m the one who got away. That’s why he fell so hard for Quinn. LOL!
I will admit this—the sex scenes in the books are all real life experiences. Whose they are I’ll leave up to your imaginations. 😉
For the bad boy, there couldn’t just be any old actor. No, he had to be a certain type. Strong and imposing on the outside, but a hot mess on the inside. This many has been damaged both mentally and physically by a lover from his past. He is the tough biker with the heart of gold who’ll do anything for the ones he loves, including give them up if he thinks they’ll be better off without him in their lives. No other than Christian Kane could portray him in my head. Plus can’t you just picture him covered in tats? I did and that’s why he is my Jacob Hartley.
The three of them go on an epic roller coaster ride in that first book. Quinn has not one but two breakdowns because of Jake. As always, Steve’s there to pick up the pieces but he’s also the only one to see the love of soul mates can’t be denied. He’s the perfect selfless hero because he moves heaven and earth to bring the two meant to be together through each and every lifetime together in this one—even when the odds are against them.

STORY EXCERPT
“Chicks love bad boys.” Jacob winked, and they both laughed. He was right. She looked too classy, even if those curves were calling out to him. Jacob only hesitated for a half a second longer and thought what the hell. Might as well give it a shot. He downed one of the whiskey shooters, and just as he was about to get up and go over to her, Steve returned and took them to a private table to store their things before heading out to the dance floor.
Oh man. She can move, too. Jacob’s heart skipped a beat or two when she caught him watching her dance. She smiled slowly, and he got lost in her eyes, blue-green like the ocean, those come-fuck-me eyes you read about in Playboy. Holy shit, Jake thought. They really did exist and they were right there, locked with his own.
Eric had stopped watching the dancers and was now staring at Jacob. “Whoa, brotha! I think you just got thunderstruck. We need to get you out of here. You don’t need another broad chasing after you now. You start your new job in Chicago at the end of next week, and you leave Vegas in two days. Don’t you dare let another one mess with your head!”
Jacob had to admit his little brother was right. He had just come out of a messy breakup and really didn’t need to hook up with anyone right now. He didn’t need the complication. But man, what he wouldn’t give to explore those curves for the next two days. Jacob groaned before he downed the last of his beer and the final whiskey chaser. He glanced at his watch and realized his brother’s shift was over and there was no other reason to stay at the club. “Let’s get out of here. I wanna stop by and see if Derek will be able to finish my tat tomorrow.”
“Sweet! Those dragons are really coming to life on your back. Derek is a fucking genius!” As they made their way through the crowd to the exit, Jacob couldn’t help himself and looked back one more time for the hot number in the barely-there red dress. He had a gut feeling that this was one broad he wasn’t going to be able to get out of his head for a hell of a long time.

Miranda rolled her eyes. “Stick with the plan, honey. I think Steve wants you for himself tonight. If you don’t jump on that, I just might.”
Quinn’s jaw nearly dropped to the floor. “What would your children say?”
She shrugged. “What happens in Vegas.”
Before Quinn could answer, Steve returned. He circled her waist with his hands and pulled her close to him. Miranda was dead-on. He wanted her all right. The proof was bumping Quinn’s ass at the moment. She smiled at her sister, who winked back.
“Have fun!” Miranda danced her way off the floor to finish her margarita and to chat up the bartender for his secret to making them so fucking fantastic.
Quinn settled back into Steve’s arms, letting him move her along with him for a little bit. She had to admit, she loved the attention. He nuzzled her ear before turning her to face him, pulling her arms up to circle his neck. Mmm. “Where did your sister get off to?”

Today I promised to put up more pictures of what I have in the Vegas Bling basket. I loved the comments from yesterday’s blog about taking my winnings and RUN! LOL! I used to think that way, back when I had grand ideas of going to Vegas to “win big.” That was entirely the wrong attitude to have and the quickest way to lose all of my money on day one. So over the years I’ve developed a strategy. First and most important…join the players club of the casinos you will be dropping your cash in. Use that card every single time you play any slot machine or table game. The more you play, the more points you add up and the more comps you get for your current trip.
Second, make sure you sign up for either home delivery or emails of special offers from the casinos that are part of your players club. The MGM group is all part of “M Life” and the cards work at NYNY, MGM Grande, Excalibur, Luxor, The Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, the new ARIA, and Bellagio. There are a few others, but you get the picture. Each one will send you offers if you spend any time in their casinos. If you have a favorite hotel/casino, then by all means keep all of your business with them.
Finally, if you eat at the restaurants in the casino, make sure that you charge the tab to your room. You will be paying for it one way or another, so go ahead and charge it to the room. The reason you do this is to give the players club people a chance to be able to comp these services for you toward the end of your stay. For example, last year we had an offer for three nights at The Hotel at the Mandalay Bay. Between the three of us in the room, we played enough to cover the remaining days of our stay and ALL meals on our tab. We also had the resort fees comp’d. So an entire week in Las Vegas last year cost us NOTHING except our airfare.

Today’s post isn’t going to be very long. I had a full day of lecture yesterday, checked out the exhibit hall and then met up with my Mom at the House of Blues for dinner before hitting the slots once again. Some of the "bling" I picked up for the winner of my giveaway
As I mentioned at the beginning of the post, I did pick up some things for the Vegas Bling basket. I got shot glasses and some magnets that they wrapped up for me so they don’t break during the trip home, but some of the other items I put on display in order to get a picture to share with everyone. I still have a couple of places yet to go for some items, but I think the winner will enjoy everything so far. I wish you all were here with me. We would have so much fun getting into a bit of trouble all up and down the strip! Whoohoo!

Have you seen the movie Coyote Ugly? Well, here is one of their nightclubs in our hotel. It wasn’t open when I walked through in the morning, but after 5pm the music gets cranked up, they start selling frozen drinks and souvenirs. A few hours later, they open their doors to let folks inside to watch the girls dancing on the bar!
One day I will be kicking up my heels here too!

I’m here in my favorite place on earth, Las Vegas and getting ready for the first day of the annual veterinary conference I attend. It’s very large with over 15,000 veterinarians alone. That’s not counting the veterinary techs and other support staff that attend as well as the spouses and guests of the attendees. We are by no means the only group here having a conference, so it gets a bit crazy with all the people at times, but I love it!

Well, today is the day I will be spending traveling to Las Vegas to attend the Western Veterinary Conference. I go every year and have a wonderful time learning the latest and greatest in my field and as an added bonus, my Mother flies out from Michigan to spend the time with me. Double bonus this year though. My muse will be joining us toward the end of the week. This will be our first weekend trip as a couple and the first time he gets to meet a member of my family. Funny thing, I’m not nervous about that at all. I know my Mom will adore him as much as I do.
For today’s post I wanted to share my new logo designed for me by my friend and fellow author Bonnie Lea Elliott. She designed something that I think captures exactly what I had in my head. It’s a bit of a throw back to the classically sexy Vixen with the silky clothes, enticing you with the sparkle and mischief in her eyes and that dazzling smile. This is the logo I’m going to use for my self published work and all of my correspondence. I’m so happy to share it with you all today…
So there you have it, my alter ego The Vixen encouraging you all to be a little naughty today. I’ll update more tomorrow and hopefully I will have the first items for the Vegas Bling basket!

Welcome to Sin City!
Las Vegas is my favorite place on earth second only to my home state of Michigan. A close runner up is of course Disneyland. Hmmm…maybe that’s why I set For the Love of Quinn in all three spots! This blog entry today is devoted to Sin City. What better place to feature during a Naughty Blog hop? If you’ve never been to this city that is truly the one that never sleeps (trust me, it’s not New York as Mr. Sinatra would have us all believe!), I suggest you save up your allowance kids and get there! You have not lived until you’ve experienced all that this city has to offer.
Christmas 2010 Bellagio
From the night life, to the buffets, to the casinos without any clocks, to the fantastic shows, there is something for everyone in this town. Sure the biggest attraction here are the casinos, and this is where the hotels make their money, but you can keep busy here and not gamble one cent. There is always at least one Cirque du Soleil show playing every night, famous singers such as Cher, Celine Dion, Bette Midler and even Elton John in featured shows. Are you into magic? David Copperfield has his own theater at the MGM Grande. At different times there are Broadway shows such as Mamma Mia and The Lion King playing at the Mandalay Bay. Of course this town is also well known for hosting thousands of different conferences from the Adult Film Industry to the Western Veterinary Conference. (This is the one I’m attending!) There are free shows too such as the water fountain productions at the Bellagio every half hour on the hour, the pirate battle at Treasure Island and oodles and oodles of street performers. There are beautiful flower displays at the Bellagio every season and my favorite so far is the one last Christmas. So many displays packed in one large room. It was breathtaking!
Now and Forever...Forever Mine
Want to commemorate your trip to Vegas? How about getting a little ink? The PussyKat Tattoo Parlor is where I got my second tattoo. It’s a nod to a pendant that Quinn had made for Steve in For the Love of Quinn. I had a heck of a time coming up with a name for the series of these books and low and behold, I had it all the time…on my left shoulder blade area! They say once you get inked, you crave more and boy is that true for me. I’m planning on a third tattoo, but finding the time to get it done had been a challenge. Maybe in a couple months I’ll get back into that chair and feel the “scratch” of those tat needles. Oh, I can’t wait! I’m thinking of a phoenix as a nod to another book in this series My Love, My Friend. The heroine, Sammi decides to let Derek Quartermarsh design a tattoo for her. For her, the phoenix symbolizes the rebirth and changes she is having to go through to get her life on track. hmmm…is anyone else having a feeling of deja vu? LOL
My favorite past time in Vegas is of course the slots. I love the sounds of all those bells and whistles…and that’s not always when you are winning. Now they have machines that entertain you as you play, keeping you feeding money in them to get more and more songs or movie clips to play. There are machines based on our favorite television shows such as American Idol, Survisor, The Amazing Race, and Wheel of Fortune. The best games are those with multiple pay lines and therefore more ways to win. If you by chance get a great spin going, you can fill the screen with wilds and BAM! You’ve won a jackpot!

There are so many things to so and see that you can’t possibly do them all in one trip. I know I can’t and I’ve been to this city at least once a year for the last twelve. This year is extra special for me. My muse/soul mate will be joining me the second half of my stay. I can’t wait to show him and all of you “My Vegas!” I fly out tomorrow so look out Sin City! Welcome back to Behind Closed Doors for the second day of the Naughty After Dark Blog Hop. Today I thought I would share a few inspirational pictures. Now don’t get freaked out. It’s not religious inspiration I’m referring to, well I guess they could be depending on how you look at them! 😉
This picture is definitely Jacob Hartley and the delicious bad girl Julia Santos in The Island (Now and Forever 2). As soon as I laid eyes on it, I flashed on a scene between the two that happens after a particularly “grueling” session with them in Julia’s studio. Jacob had to hold completely still on a small stage, completely naked while Julia sketched and then began a sculpture that would later become her masterpiece “Passion Unleashed.” Instead of using the female model she had pose with Jacob, she crafted her own body entwined with his. If this doesn’t get your “naughty” rolling, let’s take a look at the next couple.
Ah, another favorite couple of mine that will be the focus of another book in the Now and Forever series. After being on the road with his band Quarter to Three, Derek Quartermarsh is not interested in the groupies that flock to their concerts night after night. His heart will always belong to the sexy veterinary surgeon, Sarah McIntyre. After years of subtle flirts and innuendos, this couple finally confessed their feelings for each other in For the Love of Quinn. They will have their own story called Burning Heart. What kind of naughtiness do you think these two will come up with?
I’ve been trying to find pictures for all of my couples and finally this one came up today. This is definitely Jillian Ponueu and Erick Hartley. The shy half Samoan, half Hawaiian first meets Jacob’s brother Eric in For the Love of Quinn at Disneyland of all places. Just like his big brother, Eric was hit hard the moment he laid eyes on the exotic beauty. They have a lot of obstacles to overcome before they can finally have their happily ever after. Will Jillian’s family obligations tear her away from the only man who has ever touched her very soul? Can Eric give up the career he’s always dreamed of in order to have his heart and soul by his side forever? Come along for the ride of a lifetime in Thunderstruck. (This one is still a work in progress, but man! The things these two do to each other will bring out your naughty side and then some!)
This is another of my new favorite pictures. This is the surprise couple introduced in My Love, My Friend (Now and Forever 3). Katie O’Donnell is friends with Quinn’s sister Miranda and cousin Samantha and from the moment this Michigan beauty steps into Steve Eischer’s Las Vegas, her life will never be the same. Can the love she feels for him overcome the fear that he will never get over the woman he has tattooed on his chest? Find out in Lady Luck (Now and Forever 5). Yes this is another work in progress, but since the stories are so intertwined, you will get to follow all of the characters throughout the series.
So there you have it. A bit of my naughty mind at work creating the rest of the Now and Forever series and having one hell of a fantastic time doing it! So in honor of all of these couples, I wanted to share what I think is the naughtiest thing around…chocolate! And what is the naughtiest chocolate candy there is? That’s right. The GREEN M & M’s!

I will be attending the very same veterinary conference that Quinn did in the book. I go to this conference every year but this time it will be different. My muse/boyfriend Liam will be joining me at the end of it for a romantic weekend alone together in wild Vegas!
