Saturday Spotlight

Welcome to Behind Closed Doors. It’s Saturday and while I’m wasting away at a veterinary seminar, all of you get to enjoy a sneak peek at the third book in author Madison Sevier’s River Jewel Resort series. Long Overdue is aptly named. We’ve been waiting for this bad boy to get out there and we’ve only a few more days to go! Secret Cravings Publishing releases it on May 6th.

Blurb

Long overdue coverAfter a decade of working at the campus library, a scandal involving a student leaves Olivia Milan unemployed and able to spend much more time with her best friend, Matt. She’s always been attracted to Matt Osgood, but believes he’ll never feel the same about her. When he heads out of town for the weekend, Olivia takes the opportunity to visit the River Jewel Resort in the hope of getting a new job. However, what she finds when she arrives proves life can be stranger than fiction.

Romance author Matt Osgood has been in love with the same woman for a very long time, but he thinks she’ll never return his feelings. Years of going to the River Jewel Resort have allowed him to live out his every fantasy. Still, he aches for a real emotional connection to the woman he truly loves.

Can the River Jewel Resort turn fantasy into a reality for these two best friends? Or will they run in opposite directions when confronted with the truth?

Excerpt

“Not enough pay. Not enough hours. Not enough clothing.” She tossed the red marker across the room. “This newspaper is full of shitty jobs. There has to be something in this town I’m qualified to do.”

“Have you considered starting your own tantric-tutoring classes at the Y?” Matt waved his napkin as Olivia threw him an evil glare.

“Hardy-har-har. Are you ever going to let that go? It happened over a month ago.”

“I know, but I still wish I had been there to see it. I’m afraid the images in my mind of you and the Professor rolling around in your office just don’t do the real thing justice.”

“Perv.”

“You know it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the old man still sits around picturing the two of you getting each other off while he jerks off in that disgusting office of his.”

“Really? Did you have to go there? I feel dirty just thinking about it. Gross. I still can’t believe I let my libido take control of me.”

“Just kidding, babe. Tell you what, if you promise to go to River Jewel while I’m in Chicago doing actual work this weekend, I’ll stop teasing you about the senior-shag when I return.”

Olivia rolled her eyes. “Liar. You’re enjoying this.”

“Well, yeah, but I promise to stop. Besides, I overheard someone last night say that they’re putting a bookstore in at the Resort, on the third floor. That tells me they’re hiring and who better to run a bookstore than you?”

Long overdue cover“No way.” She was speechless. A bookstore! It had been years since she’d been in an actual bookstore. Working at the library, reading Matt’s books and the ease of online shopping had supported her need for books for years. To be employed at a shop full of her favorite things would be amazing! Just the thought of working in one made her panties wet.

For Olivia, books had always been everything. The way they smelled when one opened them  and the feel of them in her hands was like a drug. This was one of the many reasons she’d loved her job at the library. She could be closest to the things that made her happy.

One night after the library closed, her love of sex and fiction came together in an amazing way. She’d snuck in with a guy and they’d made love on top of one of the long, mahogany tables. Olivia had never felt more alive than that night. She’d been surrounded by new and old authors, their famous works standing at attention, surrounding them. Their stories of happily-ever-afters calling to her as she milked every drop from her ex’s shaft and after that, screwing in the library had become the only thing that came close to satisfying her.

Her fiancé, Randy, had never been into anything she wanted or needed and for a long time, she’d thought it was her fault. Olivia had tried to be everything Randy Davis desired and it took her a long time to realize that no one could have made him happy. His insatiability rivaled hers but he preferred to satisfy his needs with other people behind Olivia’s back. If she had known what he was doing, she never would’ve stayed with him for as long as she did. Looking back, she had wasted so much time and she’d cried enough tears to fill the Ohio River. If only she had met Matt sooner. Maybe their lives would’ve been different. Straddling Matt on a library table, riding him until they were both raw and exhausted…

“Hellooo. Earth to Olivia.” Matt snapped his fingers in her face. “Where’d you go? Oh, you were thinking about Tim, the quarterback again, weren’t you?”

Busted. “Not exactly. Okay, maybe.”

“You were! Library sex flashbacks? I’m so jealous!” He teased. “I’ve never known anyone to hold on to a memory of an ex like you have.” Did she sense a bit of real jealousy in his tone?

Maybe it was a fantasy of you that I was thinking about. She’d seen how well-endowed Matt was. Helping him get into and out of the shower safely every other day had played a huge part in her need to be taken by a man, any man. Thinking back, she should’ve spoken up sooner. Maybe their lives would be different if she had. An author and a librarian were a perfect match. She’d give him plenty of inspiration for his books and he’d fulfill all of her fantasies. But what if she was wrong?

Long overdue cover

The Island is available in print!

Hello everyone!

I’m sorry it’s been a little bit since I’ve been back to give you any more updates on my writing. It’s been a hectic last few months to say the least. Now that the official book tour is over, I can sit back and breathe a little bit.  I had received word from Siren Bookstrand that The Island (Now and Forever 2) was going to be released in print much sooner than the April projected dates. Imagine my surprise when I was updating my links on Amazon to find that the book was available a full TWO WEEKS before the new projected date!  Whoohoo!

Released November 2012

So now you can get the paperback versions of The Island on Amazon and on Barnes and Noble. I’m sure there are other sites out there that may have it available and if you find them, just put the links up in the comments section with this post.

Thank you all for supporting me in my journey. I couldn’t do any of this without you. The new poetry book is nearly finished and will be edited shortly. I still have the goal of the end of this month to get it out on Smashwords. Amazon will follow shortly after that. I’m going to try a new writing program called Scrivener with my new projects. I have so many open WIPs and tons of notes all over the place under multiple pen names. I’m confusing the hell out of myself on a daily basis! If I’m confused, how the heck will I ever get my characters all sorted out and in the right books with the right authors. Oy!

Another project I’ll be undertaking is creating a shared world called the Tempations Resort series. I got the idea for a shared world project from the amazing one done by the authors with Wiccan Haus.  I have loved all the books I’ve read by the multiple authors and I still plan on one day submitting one of my own for consideration in the series. If you haven’t checked them out yet, make sure you do especially if you love paranormal romances.  Here is the LINK for their blog. It will explain their whole world.

For Temptations Resort, I wanted to create a world centered around an adult island getaway. There guests will be able to explore any and all of their sexual fantasies whether sweet, sensual, exotic, erotic, or taboo. Once the first book is out, then other authors can add to the world with their own works from all heat levels of romance. Now I write erotic romances, but the sweet stuff is very welcome too. The core idea here is that it’s a fantasy world where the characters get to explore their secret dreams and desires. They can learn about and experience the world of BDSM, create role playing scenarios with a partner or two, experience a menage with as many partners as they wish, or have a quiet getaway with their love.   Look for that series to start being released later in the year, maybe by summer from Sassy Vixen Publishing.

Do You Believe in Happily Ever After?

Welcome back once again for the final days of the Wicked After Dark Halloween Blog Hop. I hope this post finds all of you safe and able to have a Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhein. For those of you in harms way of Sandy and her aftermath, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

I thought I would switch gears a bit for today’s post and look back at another guest spot I did for fellow author Kellie Kamryn last year about soul mates. Kellie and I bonded over our love of poetry and writing erotic romances. As we chatted with each other on Facebook, we discovered we shared a lot more, leading near parallel lives. Both of us were at a point in our lives where we were having to start again after some major heartache. Below is the post I did for her.  It’s the overall theme of my Now and Forever series and my first book of poetry. Let me know what you think.

Blessed Be

~Tammy

Is Your Soul Mate Out There Waiting for You?

People always ask me if I believe in the idea of soul mates and I always tell them I do, for other people. I think that is why I started writing romance and erotic romances in particular. I wanted to experience that kind of love connection even if it was just in my fantasy world. I still had a hope that one day I would find my mo anam cara, my soul friend or soul mate. My Mom found hers with her second marriage, why couldn’t I find mine someday?

I thought I had found him when I reconnected with a man I had been in love with for over 27 years. Even though so much time had passed, we just fell into our old friendship as if we never stopped being around each other. I waited so many years to see him again. He joined the Marine Corps right out of high school and we lost track of each other. I never forgot him or stopped loving him as only a teen-aged heart could do. I was soon to find out that the boy I had loved all of these years was no longer there. Both of us tried to hold onto that fantasy, but it wasn’t meant to be. My heart was so broken, but still longed for the one that could make it all right.

After one too many failed relationships I thought I was just destined to go through life alone. I finally realized that wouldn’t be such a bad thing. I didn’t have to be in a relationship or married in order to be happy. The moment I accepted that, was the moment I found my always and forever.

I agreed to go on a date with a local man. Both of us weren’t looking for a long term romance, but dating other people, basically keeping our options open. Both of us had been burned before and we guarding our hearts, but something just clicked on that very first date. It felt like we had known each other for years and as the conversation went on, it felt like we had known each other in previous lifetimes.

I know, for many of you that sounds strange, but the sense of déjà vu was so strong between us, I couldn’t explain it any other way. He couldn’t either. It was so refreshing to actually find someone with similar beliefs. We shared a lot of our hopes and dreams with each other on that date and others. It felt so right, so why did I want to run?

That’s right. I said I wanted to run away from him as fast as I could. I felt such love and affection for him right off that it scared me. Never before had I felt as supported and loved as I did when I was with him. I knew I was falling head over heels for this man and I also knew he was not in the same place. I couldn’t put myself through that heartache one more time so I tried to break it off several times. We always found our way back to each other and slowly but surely those other people we were dating dropped out of our lives. It was just the two of us and it hit us hard. As soon as we admitted to ourselves that the love we have for each other was there to stay and in fact growing with each and every moment, our journey to find our happily ever after was just beginning. This time it was different. This time we were in it together, all the way.

Just like my characters in my Now and Forever series, I have been through hell and back and found my soul mate. In For the Love of Quinn, Quinn is blessed with the love of two men. Both of them hold claims on her heart, but only one of them completes her heart and soul. It’s her family and friends who help her find out which one, and more importantly help her find herself through it all. In The Island (Now and Forever 2) Quinn once again has to rely on family and friends to help her find her way back to the man who was and will always be her happily ever after.

Me with my Wifey Laura

I am blessed to have such friends who I call my Heart and Soul Sisters. The Celtic phrase “mo anam cara” can also be applied to them. They are truly friends of my heart and soul. Without them, I would never have made it through my separation and then divorce. I would have never made it through the loss of my heart to the love from so long ago, if these five other women were not there for me. They encouraged me to keep moving forward and never stop living and loving with all of my heart. Because of them I was able to be open enough to find my soul mate and happily ever after. I wrote a poem dedicated to these women that I want to share with you. I hope that all of you have friends such as these in your life.

Heart and Soul Sisters

Bound together by all but blood,
Two sets of three drawn together
After all of these years.
Mothers, daughters, sisters, friends…
Always supporting
Never to judge.
Loss of loved ones,
Empty nests,
We’ve helped each other through
Some of life’s hardest of tests.

Ups and downs.
Joys and fears.
Smiles and Frowns.
Laughter and tears.
Three by three we stand
Meeting each challenge hand and hand.

Fascinating women each and every one,
All on their own.
But together they are
An unstoppable force.
When one is in need
The others rally around
So they are never alone
But instead meet life’s challenges
Head on and full throttle
Which for these women is par for the course.

I am blessed to count myself
As part of this group of friends
I hold dear to my heart.
For without them,
I would have lost all hope
And fallen apart…
Whenever they’re in need
I will be there as I know
They will be for me.
For it’s now and forever
In my heart and soul
Will these sisters be.
