It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. A lot has happened over the last year since my last post here. My compassion fatigue journal has helped not only me, but many others get through the darkest times of our lives. Having come through the other side, my Muse is speaking to me again and I can finally WRITE!
Part of that was due to having to make some serious life changes after collapsing at work. It’s not fun working the veterinary ER and having to be rushed to the human ER! I’ll go into that in another post on my Not Enough Time in the Day blog. Today, I’m thrilled to announce I’ve FINALLY republished For the Love of Quinn after having the rights returned to me last October. I did as I promised and split it up into two books. The ebooks are out on all vendors and the print should be available over the next week after I go through the proofs.
Quinn’s love affair with both Steve and Jake is a long convoluted story. The initial tale introduces many characters who play pivotal roles throughout the series including but not limited to having a book of their own. Some of the initial plot lines have changed based on what I’ve changed in the new and improved For the Love of Quinn…part 1 and 2.
I promise to have posts with teasers over the next week. For now, let me leave you with the blurbs and covers as well as the Books2Read links for each. If you click on the link, it will take you to the book page where it will list all the vendors where the books are available in ebook. One things I wanted to point out is that Barnes and Noble has put the two parts together as if they are different editions of each other. You will see the book cover for part two on my BN author page. Below that is a link for all editions. Click on that and another window opens up with both books.
For the Love of Quinn (Now and Forever Part 1)
Quinn Lee Hollis has reached a crossroads of her life. The forty-three-year old veterinary surgeon must choose to continue on with her loveless and emotionally abusive marriage, or fulfill her wildest fantasies during a trip to Vegas. There she meets two men. Both bring out the fire and passion she’s longed for her entire life.
Vegas Tycoon, Steve Eischer offers to fulfill her every fantasy.
Classic bad boy, Jake Hartley awakens a desire in her so strong, it threatens to destroy her.
Both have claims on her heart, but only one shares a connection so strong nothing can keep them apart.
Quinn Lee Hollis never dreamed a trip to Las Vegas for an annual veterinary conference would end up changing her life forever. There she met and fell in love with two men. Both bring out the passion she’s longed for her entire life.
One fulfills her every wish and fantasy, dropping everything to be by her side during the worst time of her life. He asks nothing in return other than to be allowed to love her whenever they can be together.
The other, awakens an all-consuming fire that threatens to destroy her hold on reality. Their initial explosive attraction burns out of control as they fantasize about the day they can come together again. His promises of forever turn empty when he’s pledged to marry another.
Unable to cope with his betrayal, Quinn buries her pain deep inside and throws herself into her work until one last betrayal sends her mind reeling and she loses her hold on reality. She retreats to her safe place to heal, the one place where all the pain will go away and she can be with the one who has always held her heart from the beginning of time.
Thank you all for stopping by! Stay tuned for information on when the print versions will be available. If you’re in Bellevue Washington on October 14th, be sure to stop in for the Passport to Romance Reader Appreciation Event. I’ll have signed copies of both of these books and a few others as well as swag for FREE!
Welcome to Behind Closed Doors and a very special announcement. As you all know, I’ve been working on self publishing The Surrender of Julia (Now and Forever 3). It’s in edits now but should be back in my hands soon. Until then, I thought I’d share the blurb and the AMAZING cover designed and created by LMK Graphics. Not only did they listen to me when I talked about the characters, they included me in every step of the process. Now my characters have come ALIVE on this cover and I couldn’t be happier. This is the first cover of the very first novel published with Sassy Vixen Publishing LLC. Since all of you have been there with me from the beginning, it seems only fitting to share another milestone with you.
I don’t have a release date just yet, but let’s just say soon. VERY soon!
L.A. artist phenom Julia Santos appeared to have it all. After a nearly two year long dry spell, her creativity was at its peak and she had her muse and model Jacob Hartley to thank for it. He brought the fire and raw sexuality back to her sculptures and into her bedroom, and a sense of security that only one other person in her life had ever given her. At last she had found the perfect balance between her professional and private lives, until the day a single call from someone in her past threatened to tear her world apart.
Fearful of losing all she’d worked so hard to accomplish, Julia delved deeper into the hedonistic lifestyle she’d come to rely on to give her an escape from the horrors of her past. Instead of bringing her comfort, her sexual urges lead her down the path of destruction; not only for herself, but those around her. With Jacob fighting for his life after a near fatal motorcycle accident and Julia on the brink of death herself, Fate and her Guardian Angel Daniel intervene and transport her to a safe haven called the Island.
There she’s given a choice: stay on the Island and wait for her next rebirth, or go back and fight to be with the one who has been there for her through every lifetime. Will she take the easy way out and leave all the pain behind, or will she choose the long and hard road reliving the horrors of her childhood in order to have her happily ever after with the Mistress of her dreams?
Here we are once again for Friday Fantasy Free For All. I’ve been working on finalizing The Surrender of Julia (Now and Forever 3) and wanted to share an excerpt with you. For those of you who’ve read the first two books in this series, (thanks!) you’ll remember there was character only briefly mentioned in the first book who wouldn’t keep quiet until I told her story.
In the second book The Island, you got to see her in action: the good, the bad and the ugly. But unlike every other villainess I’ve come across, Julia kept calling out to me to give her equal stage time. I tried to do it in The Island, but her story was too large. It threatened to overshadow Jake and Quinn’s tale and I couldn’t have that…and neither could Siren!
The Surrender of Julia was born. Why she turned out to be the grade A bitch we think was responsible for Jake’s near fatal accident. Why she has a slew of lovers at her beck and call at all times. Why she pushes the one man away who seemed to love her unconditionally and why she can’t find true happiness unless she’s kneeling in front of her Mistress awaiting further instructions. It’s all there, ripe for the picking.
Yes you read it right. MISTRESS. You see, Julia is the best damn submissive Dr. Carmen Hall has every met and the only one who holds her heart. It’s when Julia finally surrenders herself to Carmen’s care does she find her heart and soul.
The following is an excerpt from the book where Julia realizes Carmen is who she wants and needs to help her relieve all the chaos surrounding her and turning her life upside down.
As always, let me know what you think.
Adult Story Excerpt from The Surrender of Julia (Now and Forever 3)
Carmen chuckled. “As you said, the man is full of himself. It didn’t take him long to brag to me that he was nailing you in the supply closet while Kathy watched. He said Kathy was a threat to not only him, but to me. If I didn’t fire her effective immediately, he was going to see to it that the Board found out about our relationship. He tried to act like he knew about it all along, but I could tell he was pissed.”
Julia swallowed hard. That was exactly what she’d been afraid he’d try to pull. Even through Carmen told her repeatedly that it wasn’t a secret she was a lesbian, Julia never wanted to be the reason the other hospital administrators turned against her. She didn’t want Carmen to know she was still worried about it, so she put on the tough girl act once again. “I tossed our affair out at Mario to get a rise out of him. He wouldn’t take no for an answer and I wanted him out of my bed, out of my condo and out of my life. Finding out he wasn’t the only one I’d been sleeping with for more than a few years got his attention. Finding out it was you, sent him over the edge. If he wants to go to make a formal complaint about you, then let him. You’ve never made your sexual preferences a secret. Why would the Board give a shit about it now?”
“I’m not concerned about me. You have a reputation to consider too. For the last two years you made it clear to your adoring public you were with Jake. Now if all of this comes out—”
“All it would do is to create more buzz about my gallery. I love sex, Carmen, with men and women. You’ve known that right from the day we met. No man has been in my life as long as you have.”
Carmen got up from her desk and joined Julia on the love seat, taking her hand. “I know and you mean the world to me. I just don’t want anything to hurt you.” She squeezed her hand a bit before bringing it to her lips. “And don’t go pulling the tough chick act with me. I know you’re worried about my reputation here. It just makes me love you all the more.”
Julia leaned over and kissed Carmen softly at first, touching her honey-hued skin, then deepening the kiss as she felt Carmen relax in her arms. She loved the feel of this woman and all of her curves. That’s what attracted Julia to her in the first place, those classic Botticelli hips and thighs. She couldn’t get enough of her when they were together. It had been far too long, and Carmen had been so patient.
Carmen abruptly broke their kiss, panting. “I’m due at a hospital meeting in twenty minutes. How about you go home, and pick up the overnight bag you always have packed. Get out of that condo for a few days and let me work out your stresses for you.”
Julia felt the sudden rush of hot fluid between her thighs and she actually blushed. The last time Carmen worked out her kinks, she found herself on the receiving end of a humongous dildo. Carmen had feasted on every inch of her, worked her with the paddle and then tied her to the bed while fucking her with the strap on. Both women had been in heaven in their rolls as Domme and sub. No one had given Julia as much pleasure or cared for her more, except Jacob.
“I would love to spend the next week with you. You always know exactly what I need.” She kissed Carmen again, running her fingers through her curly, pale blonde hair, chasing her tongue slowly, giving her just a taste of her submission.
Carmen smiled and helped her from the couch. “Go ahead and make yourself at home. I’ll be there just after six. Make sure to wear the thigh high boots and the bells.”
Julia shivered and bit her lip, lowering her eyes. “I’ll be strapped in and waiting for your instructions, Mistress.”

For those of you who’ve asked me if I really believe that there is a soul mate for everyone, the answer is a resounding YES! Have you ever met someone, not even said a word to them but just locked eyes with them and felt an overwhelming sense of deja vu? Then as you talk with each other, get to know one another a little more, that feeling grows exponentially to the point you are simply knocked for a loop? What about when you touch? Have you ever felt like you were struck by lightning and that you couldn’t pull away from the person if you tried? You my dear have experienced what one of my characters refers to as being “thunderstruck.” I even wrote about that in a poem with same title.
Dancing in the dark, bodies pressed tight against each other
The rhythm of the music takes me away
To another time, another place
Where laughter fills the air.
And the thunder of the drums calls out to you.
Spinning around the room, eyes closed,
Keeping pace with the beat of the drums.
A chill runs down my spine.
Eyes fly open searching for the cause.
Thunder rolls through the room,
Leading the way to where I must go.
Feet suddenly rooted to the spot
A stranger’s eyes lock on mine, pulling me in
Reading my thoughts, my heart, my soul.
Can’t pull away even if I wanted to
And I don’t.
The thunder roars in my ears.
The lightning bolt zips through me
Head to toe tingling,
Breath catching in my chest.
Longing to touch, to caress
To never let go…not ever again.
The thunder explodes inside my mind
Telling me this is it.
We have found each other once again.
Heart pounding wildly out of control.
How can a stranger be so familiar?
Looking deeper into my heart, I know.
He’s not a stranger, he’s always been there.
He’s the one I’ve been searching for
The part that was missing from my heart
And from my soul.
Smiles slowly form as recognition dawns.
Could it be? Is it true?
After all this time?
Hands reach for each other,
Fingertips barely touching
The electricity nearly knocking us off of our feet
As we are thunderstruck.
But this time I know he feels it too.
Lost in each other’s eyes,
Holding each other tight
Thoughts of losing each other again melt away.
Not this time. Not ever again.
No longer will we fight it.
We will embrace it
And be thunderstruck
Together once again.
It’s that instant recognition that takes your breath away. You can try to deny it all you want, but your heart and soul will continue to cry out for the one who will make them whole. This is what it was like for Quinn and Jacob. The twist to their story is that they actually did find each other long before the locked eyes with each other that fateful night in Las Vegas. The Island tells that part of their story. I hope you get lost in this couple as much as I did writing their tale.
After losing her brother in a fatal motorcycle accident, Quinn’s life spins out of control. Shutting herself off from friends and family in Michigan, she buries herself in her work, wishing for the pain to end. In her dreams she’s finally able to find the peace her heart craves on The Island.
Driven to recklessness over a heartbreaking betrayal, Jacob races his motorcycle on a rain slick California freeway. Near death in the hospital, he’s given a choice. Stay on The Island or go back for a second chance at love.
Destined to be together, but repeatedly torn apart, these two lost and melancholy people draw the attention of the Goddess Fate. As Quinn and Jacob’s lives hang in limbo, the soul mates are given a very special gift from the Gods, and the chance to finally have their love of a lifetime.
His eyes found hers once again and she began to fall. She didn’t care. Thoughts of going back or staying there on The Island disappeared. All she wanted to think about, to feel, and taste was Jacob. Quinn pulled his mouth back to hers. The sweet taste of the berries, mango, and papaya dazzled her taste buds as their tongues teased and danced with each other, fighting for control one moment and surrendering to each other the next.
Jacob finally freed her tits from the laces of her bodice. Watching him tug at the strings with his teeth made her heart beat faster and she giggled before she could stop. He winked and kept up the slow pace. Quinn giggled even more. “I stand by my first assessment. You’re a tease, Jake.”
“Baby doll, you haven’t seen anything yet.” He pushed her dress down to her waist and simply stared. “I’m not the only tease here.”
“What are you talking about?” Quinn slid her fingertips up and down his arms. His muscles twitched and pulsed at her touch. She wanted those arms wrapped around her and to never let go.
“You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. You don’t flaunt it, but every move and noise you make turns me on. I wanted to take this slow, but I can’t.”
“Stop thinking so much and kiss me.” She pushed herself up to meet his mouth once again as they moved on the bed so she was now on top of him. Jacob’s hands slid up her thighs, leaving hot trails with his fingertips. Her body quaked and her pussy clenched as a rush of fluid soaked her panties completely.
Jacob hooked his thumbs in the band of her underwear, snapped them off, and tossed them onto the floor. His hands slid up her body, pulling the dress up and over her head in a flash. He sat up, holding her in his lap, nuzzling first one breast and then the other with his stubbly chin and cheeks. The roughness of his skin against her rock-hard nipples sent her rolling toward another orgasm. She clung to him as he suckled harder on her right nipple while kneading her left breast with his hand. Quinn arched her back and bit her lip before crying out. “Jake, please don’t—”
He pulled back quickly, moving his hands to cradle her face. Concern filled his eyes. “Did I hurt you?”
Her eyes glistened with tears. “No. Please don’t stop.”
* * * *
The catch in her voice nearly broke his heart. The raw passion was there. Her body given freely to him, and yet she still questioned his desire for her. He knew that pain all too well. Here with Quinn though, it all faded away. She did that for him and he wanted so badly to do the same for her. He wiped away the tears that spilled onto her flushed face. He kissed her softly and held her close. “I want you, now and for however long we can be together. I need to be with you. I won’t stop as long as you want the same.”
Quinn slid off his lap and knelt up on the bed, pulling him up with her. She held his gaze as her fingers unfastened his shorts and then slid them down over his hips. Jacob quickly took off his tank top before crushing Quinn’s chest against his. She smiled and his heart beat quickened. “I need you, too. Make love with me, Jake.”
He slid out of his shorts as Quinn eased back onto the pillows. Jacob took in her entire sun-kissed body, naked before him. God, she’s so beautiful. Quinn welcomed him into her arms as he joined her on the pillows, his mouth finding her left nipple this time as his right hand trailed down her stomach.
She arched her back and moaned as soon as his fingers found her throbbing clit. Another wave of fluid gushed out of her and over his fingers. Jacob brought them up to his mouth to taste her. “Mmmm. You taste fucking fantastic. Your sister was right. Wanna try?”
Quinn giggled and licked his fingers clean. That move sent his body over the edge. His cock was bouncing with his need for her, a fact that didn’t go unnoticed by his lover. She reached inside the nightstand for the box of condoms, spilling several over the bed. Jacob smiled as he placed one in her open palm. Quinn slid her hands down his abs to his pulsing member. She wrapped her fingers around his shaft and squeezed a little, eliciting a gasp from him. Carefully she tore open the wrapper with her teeth and quickly covered his cock with the ribbed latex sheath. He thrust his hips forward, causing her hand to slide up and down his shaft. “Oh, now who’s teasing?” Jacob moaned.
He eased Quinn all the way back onto the pillows, and slid down her body toward his prize. He wanted more than just a taste. He wanted to feast on her cunt until she begged for him to take her. He positioned himself between her thighs and looked up to see her watching him, her chest rising and falling rapidly. He winked before popping her clit into his mouth and sucking hard. Quinn nearly bucked him off but he held her hips in place, enjoying her squirming and sighs. It wasn’t long at all before he was rewarded once again with her sweet nectar.
He teased her a bit more with his tongue and then slipped one, two and then three fingers inside of her hot folds. Her pussy clenched repeatedly over his fingers and her body convulsed over and over again. Quinn’s skin flushed from her tits to her toes, because of him, because of what he was doing to her. He wanted more, so much more. He couldn’t wait any longer. He wanted to bury his cock deep inside her, go over the edge, and never come back.
Welcome to Behind Closed Doors. For those of you who’ve visited the last few days for the Wicked After Dark Halloween Blog Hop, I turned over the reins to one of my favorite characters, Brigid Moon. Today I’m happy to welcome to the hot seat another of my favorites, Steven Eischer. For those of you who read the first book in this series (thank you!), you will remember the Vegas tycoon who swept Quinn off her feet the moment she entered his casino. He was part of the love triangle I’ll never forget. You see, I never intended on having Quinn fall in love with two men. We’ll get back to that in just a bit.
First let me tell you a bit more about the hot, hunky man who as Quinn’s sister said “has more money than God.” He’s a self-made man, having worked his entire life for all that he has. Over the years he’s basically been married to his job and building his empire…2/3 of Las Vegas if anyone is counting! After two failed marriages, he wasn’t looking for a relationship when Quinn walked into his club at the MGM Grand. One look into her eyes and he was done for. Not that he was complaining!
Unfortunately, Fate and her brothers had other plans for Mr. Eischer that didn’t include having Quinn as his life partner. His intuition picked up on that right off when he witnessed the reaction between Quinn and Jacob the first time they laid eyes on each other on the club dance floor. How about I let him tell the story from here. Come on out and say hello to the gang, Steve.
I love what you’ve done to the place over the last year, Tammy. Purple is our, I mean you favorite color right? Oh, hello everyone! I hope Tammy hasn’t been filling your head with all sorts of nonsense like how I wouldn’t take a backseat and just have the one night stand with Quinn.
(I shake my head. It’s going to be one of those interviews. That devilish smile of his is coming out already and don’t get me started about how his emerald green eyes twinkle when he’s about to pounce. The Devil!)
Well, it’s true! I had intended on just having Quinn and Jacob’s story take off from the moment they come face to face in your club. You were the one who couldn’t stay in the background. One look at Quinn in that little red dress and you were smitten. It didn’t take you long to show her your penthouse, did it?
(Steve’s deep chuckle rumbles in his chest and makes my stomach do a few flips. Heaven help me. This is exactly what happened when he took over the first book!)
Well, you have to admit Quinn was smokin’ hot in that dress. I would’ve been a fool to let her slip through my fingers. Truth be told, I took a gamble that night when I asked her to let me show her my Vegas. She could’ve stayed away from me too. I have to believe it was all going according to plan.
Really? Whose plan would that be?
Yours. Quinn’s the spitting image of you when we were together all those years ago. You were the one who left me all brokenhearted.
(now it’s my turn to laugh) Brokenhearted my ass! Within an hour after I left Vegas you were in the arms of not one but TWO supermodels. We had a lot of fun, I’ll give you that but brokenhearted? Seriously?
Okay, maybe not brokenhearted, but I did miss you a hell of a lot. Until Quinn and her sister strolled into my casino you were the sassiest broad I’ve ever known. No one will ever take your place, darlin’.
You’re still the sweet-talker, Mr. Eischer! Let’s get back to business shall we? Knowing what you know now, would you have done anything differently when it came to Quinn and Jacob?
Not one thing. We were there for each other when it was needed the most. I was there for her when her entire world came crashing down. I helped Jake see the only woman he would ever be truly happy with was Quinn. Both of them brought me out the cycle of living, breathing, and eating my work. Nothing else mattered to me until they walked into my life. Now I’m even richer than I ever thought possible. At the time, I would’ve given everything I had, everything I was if it meant Quinn could be happy with me. But then I had a visitor…
Did you? Whose visit could have made you go from telling Quinn she was your always and forever to chasing down Jake to make him snap out of it and claim his love of a lifetime?
The Lady herself. Fate appeared to me along with her Guardians. Together they filled me in on a few things. I was given a choice. If I chose Quinn then the paths of many others would be altered for this lifetime and the next, including the one who was to be my happily ever after.
I’m…I’m a bit shocked. Why didn’t you tell me this before? This could have made an entirely different outcome to the series—
Exactly. By not telling you about their visit, the stories of the others in our group will be told. And of course, now I get to spend a hell of a lot more time with you. You know, consulting!
(he winked at me! Goddess help me, if I wasn’t married to my own soul mate, I would indeed start up those all night “consulting” sessions!)
Damn it! You get me all unnerved when you wink at me like that. We are supposed to be talking about The Island. What role do you play in this one?
Thisone is told in flashbacks. It starts out a year after For the Love of Quinn ended. I don’t want to give away too much. I want folks to read our story and of course follow the rest of the series. The last I peeked at your notes, the series is up to nine books. When are you going to put out book three?
Gee, can’t we enjoy book two’s release first? Don’t you worry. The Surrender of Julia (Now and Forever 3) is nearly finished and books 4 and 5 are coming along as well. And yes, you’re in these too. Funny how you just weasel your way into all the books of this series. 😉
I told you before. I can’t stay away from you for very long. Even if you are married to your always and forever, there’s a part of you that you only shared with me. Admit it.
Well, you got me there. Maybe that’s why I keep telling your story. I love how you enjoy helping so many people fulfill their dreams and fantasies. Is that why you own or at least co-own most of Vegas?
Could be. It’s the one place where adults can let loose and enjoy themselves with little restrictions. Why not set up shop here? I get to meet such fascinating people. It’s where I met you. It was about twelve years ago, right?
It was and now’s the perfect time to end for today. How about you come back tomorrow and we can pick up where we left off?
(he raises one eyebrow and flashes that damn crooked smile again.)
With the interview, Mr. Eischer. The interview.
Okay, but you know what it does to me when you say “Mr. Eischer” in that scolding school teacher voice. 😉
Do you see what I have to put up with folks? This is how it will be in every book. He is incorrigible! But I have to admit I wouldn’t want him to be any other way and neither will you when you read his story! Come back again tomorrow for the second part of Steve’s interview. Make sure to check out some more of the blogs participating. You will find some of your favorite authors and some new ones to enjoy as well. Today over on Sassy Vixen it’s the Guardian Michael’s turn. You won’t want to miss out on his story or the chances at the prize package over there.
Speaking of that…here’s the Rafflecopter to catch up on more entries here and below that will be the little froggy icon for the linky list of the participants. Have fun everyone and blessed be!
I’m in the planning stages for a virtual book tour to promote TheIsland, coming up with a variety of posts, a media kit with all my links, bio, covers and of course the video trailer. Recently I did a blog post for Writer’s Words of Wisdom about creating video trailers. I used the techniques described in it to create my latest video. Even though it took me a while to put it all together the way I wanted it, it really wasn’t hard to do.
Once I collected and purchased all the photos I wanted to use, I listened to the variety of royalty free music I had on my computer from iTunes and from Incompetech.com. The latter is a site put together by Kevin MacLeod. He has hundreds of pieces all for free to use in projects. All you have to do is give him credit somewhere in your work and you are all set. If you can’t or don’t want to give the attribution, you can purchase the music as well. Kevin also offers a service where he will create an original composition for you if you desire.
Well, being on a very tight budget, I of course went for the free music for now. One day I may have to hire Mr. MacLeod to compose something for me, but for now I’ll just enjoy the beautiful pieces he has on his site. The budget this time around was used to purchase a few more pictures from Shutterstock.com. I found several that just caught my eye immediately. The photos of the Goddess Fate, Michael Hartley, and Daniel Quartermarsh were the most striking. They captured my vision of these characters perfectly! I couldn’t be happier.
For my hero and heroine, I had to try to not get photos that were steamy, but not too risque. I also wanted to give an idea of how I pictured Quinn and Jacob, but didn’t want to make those the only images in the reader’s mind. The fun part is coming up with your own interpretation of the characters as you read their story, and maybe even put yourself in as one of them. During the upcoming Wicked After Dark Blog Hop, I’ll be doing character interviews and posting pictures of the actors who I used as inspiration. There is no right or wrong answer to how someone pictures my characters. I hope the posts generate a lot of discussion. It will be fun for me to see what folks think of my vision versus how they see the characters.
Enough chit chat! Here’s the video you all came here to see. Let me know what you think, and if you have a few moments, please stop by YouTube and view the trailer from there so the view count will go up. And if you can give it a like, I would really appreciate it!
Yesterday I received wonderful news. My publisher has accepted The Island (Now and Forever 2). They’ve set a tentative November release for the ebook version and April 2013 for the print version. As most of you know, this book started off as a short story “A Christmas Miracle for Jake.” I posted it here on this blog during a blog hop at the end of last year. It was in three parts.
Here are the links to those posts so you can get a little sneak peek at the story.
Of course it’s evolved a lot since then and I’ve developed Julia’s story into her own book too. If I can get that one done and submitted, I may have two new books released before the end of the year. I’m not going to force it. If Julia’s story flows well then so be it. I want to be happy with it before sending it in for consideration. As you know, characters want their story told and they don’t give a rip about deadlines! 😉
To celebrate, I’d like to share the song that I heard in my head when I wrote the love scenes between Quinn and Jacob for TheIsland.
I had such a great time writing the short story “A Christmas Miracle for Jake” that I have been mulling over in my brain the idea to expand upon it. I was tinkering around with the idea of making it part of the Now and Forever series, but as a prequel. Jacob’s story really needs to be told. How did he become such a broken man unable to trust his own heart?
In For the Love of Quinn, I touched upon his story a bit through conversations between Jake and his brother Eric and other characters. The woman who broke his heart and nearly drove Jake to kill himself keeps coming up in my head. Julia Santos is a piece of work. She is the classic “mean girl” all grown up and even more evil, sort of like Sharon Stone’s character in Basic Instinct. Catherine Tramell was wild, devastatingly beautiful, used to getting what she wanted when she wanted it no matter the costs. For her, murder was not off limits. Would it be for Julia? I think the idea that a man would nearly die in a motorcycle accident because he was so distraught over seeing her with another man would be just the kind of thing to get her juices flowing.
Oh, now my mind is definitely going there!
While Jake is in his coma and on The Island with Quinn, Julia is busy stirring up trouble in the real world for him and his family. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t know that the Hartley family has two Angels watching over them and Jake. Of course there is Karma and Lady Fate waiting to get their claws into Ms. Santos!
Okay, looks like I got some writing to do! I am going with the title The Island for now. Any other ideas?
This six is from my new short story A Christmas Miracle for Jake. The entire thing will be posted over the three days of the Stuff Your Stockings Christmas Blog Hop (December 16-18th). In For the Love of Quinn, the reader gets a brief overview of an accident that Jacob had ten years before. The short story covers the time when Jacob was in his coma. Two secondary characters make their first appearance to help nudge Jacob, Quinn and the rest of the people in their lives down certain paths. This group of six is a scene where Jacob and Quinn are together for the very first time on their dream island.
Her breasts were straining against the bodice of her sundress. Jacob flicked his tongue into the deep cleft between him eliciting a moan from Quinn. He held her gaze as he pushed the thin straps of the dress off of her shoulders. He used his teeth to tug at the strings keeping her heaving tits in place. She giggled as her dress slowly opened up to him. The sound tickled his stomach and he wanted to hear her giggle, laugh and so much more.
