By the Light of the Moon (#vampire #poetry)

By The Light of the Moon

As the sun sets I awaken from my dream state.
My deep slumber filled with thoughts of you.
My soul yearns for the one promised by Lady Fate.
Two thousand years of searching the entire Earth
Has left me lost and alone by the light of the last Blue Moon.

Tonight something is different;
I can feel it in my ancient bones.
My faithful servants hurry about,
Preparing for the guests who will be arriving soon.
Each wishing to celebrate the anniversary of my birth as Vampire,
Never thinking I would want to spend this night alone.
My only wish, my only desire is to see you,
Waiting to celebrate with me.
Your beauty made all the more bright
By the light of the Harvest Moon.

Surrounded by immortals throughout the centuries
And yet I’m consumed by this melancholy ache.
My heart burns night and day
For the only one who can quench my thirst.
At each dawn I say a silent prayer.
Please let this be the last night alone.
Let me see her face the moment I awake.
But once again I greet Mother Moon,
As I did after being turned by The First.

Descended from the First Man and Woman was he,
Given the sacred task to protect mankind.
Within his blood lies the Essence of Immortality.
Through him and his descendants
All Guardians must be aligned.
There are those who beg to have this immortal life.
But the Guardians are of the Chosen Few.
Each must claim a fae as husband or wife,
In order to ensure the Tree of Life begins anew.

On this night I pledge as I make a wish upon my birthday cake.
This will be the last year I roam this world as Vampire.
Two thousand years is more than enough heartache.
One year from today if you are not by my side,
I wish to be allowed to walk into the sun
and become a ball of fire.

Alas, I know in my heart I must hold on
To the only hope I have found in my fairy dreams of you.
While your voice still calls for me, I will continue to wait.
With each night that passes I will look for you
Dancing by the light of the Blood Moon.
Because of you I will go on until you are in my arms
As my lover, my life, and my Fated Mate.

Now for today’s post…

This is an excerpt from my work in progress The First Borne (The Kayne Legacy 1).  Here we find Michael Kayne and Abigail Matthews alone in their hotel room after a long day of celebration at the High Court of the Fae. The night before was Michael’s fortieth birthday when he accepted the family legacy from his grandfather.  Only the first borne in each generation is eligible for the full legacy: to become Vampire and protect the essence of the Tree of Life.  The other guardian of the essence has to be a Fae as commanded by Lady Fate.  Abigail as it turns out is Fae and Michael’s chosen mate.

“I’m still overwhelmed by it all, Michael.  If I had not seen it with my own eyes, I would have sworn it was all make believe or just a dream.” Abigail sat down on the edge of the bed, thoroughly exhausted after the day at Court. Not only did she finally meet her birth mother, but she was introduced to the High Court of the Fae as the next in line for the thrown.

Michael knelt on the floor next to the bed and looked into her flushed face.  “As my grandmother told you, as soon as the clock struck midnight on my fortieth birthday, all would be revealed to you. I’ve known what my path would be my entire life, but standing next to you during tonight’s ceremony was more than a bit surreal for me too.”

“Vampires, fairies, damphyr, witches and warlocks all there and so many more beings represented that I thought were all make believe.  I’ve always been drawn to their stories and maybe that’s why I wanted to become a writer, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would be living those fantasies.” She brushed her fingertips along Michael’s stubbly chin. “Here I am, falling in love with a man who chose to become an immortal, a vampire.”

Michael smiled at his fiancé of just four hours. “You have had my heart from the moment you appeared to me in my dreams. I didn’t know who you were, but I knew I wanted to spend forever with you if you would have me.  Together we can strengthen the bond between the Fae and the Vampires and continue to protect the essence of the Tree of Life.”  He reached down to slip off her diamond and ruby studded heels from her feet. The skirt of the silver gown she wore eased up her legs as Michaels hands moved from her feet, toward her knees.

Abigail’s breath caught in her throat. This is what she had wanted from the moment she walked into his office and found out they were destined to be together. Funny how she had a harder time believing that then the fact she was Fae and Michael was the multiple great grandson of Cain and Lilith.  All doubts slipped from her mind during the week they spent together doing the interviews about his family and foundation. She slipped his jacket from his shoulders as she leaned forward to brush his lips with her own, softly at first, but then with more need.  Her tongue slipped between his lips, teasing and sliding over his, eliciting a soft moan from deep in his chest.

He broke the kiss and searched her face, his gray eyes glistening. “Honey, if we don’t stop now, I won’t be able to control myself like before.” Abigail knew he was referring to the fact he was now a full-fledged vampire and needed to be with his mate. “Being this close to you, and not—“

“Taking what is rightfully yours?” She smiled and felt his body relax in her arms. “If I wasn’t sure, I wouldn’t be alone with you. I need you just as much as you need me.”

Michael slowly stood up, never taking his eyes from hers, and pulled her up to stand in front of him.  Her hands trembled slightly as she unbuttoned the vest of his tuxedo and then his shirt. He reached up and tugged the ruby combs from her hair, letting the curls fall free.  His mouth found hers again as his fingers eased the zipper of her gown down her back, past her waist, to the top of her ass. Sliding his hand inside the gown he encountered her soft bare skin, warm and inviting. “Aren’t we a bit, naughty? Showing up in Court today commando?” He chucked against her ear, giving it a little nip before sliding the straps of her dress off her shoulders. The silk and lace slipped down her curves to settle on the floor with a soft whisper.

Abigail disengaged from his arms and knelt on the bed once again. “You know, there’s nothing like the feel of silk against bare skin. The dress fit my body like a glove. It just didn’t feel right having something else on underneath it.” She reached for him and Michael joined her on the bed, easing her back onto the pillows, trailing kisses down her neck as they went. “I take that back. Skin on skin feels pretty fucking good too!”

Michael winked and flicked her right nipple with his tongue before taking it into his mouth and sucking hard. “Nothing else you can think of feels great against your skin?” A gasp escaped from her lips before she could control herself. His left hand trailed down her abdomen to the top of her pussy. Her juices were already flowing out of her, coating her inner thighs. She lifted her hips up to meet his fingertips as they grazed her swollen clit.

Abigail’s fingers entwined in his hair as she gently urged his mouth over to her left breast. “I’m not sure. I think I need more research.”

“Hmm. I like how your mind works, sweetheart.” He nipped, licked, and kissed his way down to settle between her thighs, spreading them a bit wider before dipping his tongue between her outer lips. Abigail’s legs quivered as the heat spread through her body. Her need for him was growing to the point of pain, but she didn’t want him to stop.

 * * * *

Her scent was making him dizzy, but the taste of her drove him wild with need to take her and make her his bride tonight. He slipped two fingers into her dripping pussy. Abigail’s inner muscles immediately grabbed on and pulled him in deeper. His middle finger teased and feathered her sweet spot, making her pant and squirm under him.

“Yes, there!” Her hips snapped up toward him and his hand was immediately coated with another rush of her cum.  Her entire body shook violently as her orgasm raced through her from head to toe. Michael’s cock responded to every moan and sigh, throbbing and bouncing to be deep inside her.

He slid up her flushed body, staring deep into her eyes and knowing she was his now and forever. Abigail wrapped her legs around his waist as he entered her fully in one hard thrust, filling her completely. Her pussy clenched hard around his shaft, taking him all the way in.  Her nails slid down his back sending him over the edge. Michael pumped harder, his balls slapping against her ass each time he buried himself to the hilt into her cunt.

The sight of Abigail’s tits bouncing wildly between their bodies, the feel of her skin against his, and the wild and fruity scent coming off her in waves, finally broke down the last barrier Michael had set up around his heart. With a low growl he fucked her harder and faster as he let go, joining her in another orgasm. Before he realized what was happening, his lips were at her neck. His fangs extended and pierced her skin just as he erupted deep inside her.

Abigail’s arms wrapped around his body and held him tight as he began to drink from her. Her voice was only a hoarse whisper at this point. “Don’t stop, Michael. All that I am and all that I will be belongs to you.”

Courtship of the Vampyres

Courtship of the Vampyres

Awakening before the setting sun,
Desire burning for my Promised One.
Longing to embrace you under the light of the Moon,
To drink our fill of each other until the dawn.
Your smile alone is enough to make me swoon.

The veil of darkness at last falls,
Allowing me to pass through these damp, lonely halls.
Our home is cold and dark without you by my side,
But not for much longer.
Tonight you will be my Vampyre Bride.

The full Moon illuminates the clearing
Where I find you feeding from one of your admirers,
His face full of bliss.
Watching you drives me wild with desire
To touch you and taste the blood
Still warm on your lips.

My pulse quickens as I draw near.
The need to give my body and blood to you
Grows sharp and crystal clear.
Still I hold back just a moment longer
Watching you quench your insatiable hunger.

Your scent is an intoxicating bouquet.
Your beauty eclipses all those around.
I long to lay with you and bite you again on this day,
As always my love for you knows no bounds.

The desire to have your fangs deep in my neck,
Drinking from the Well of Life
And Power in my veins can no longer be denied.
Moving across the field, silently praying for you to see.
You come to me at last, eyes burning,
Arms open wide.

Melting in your embrace,
Exposing the well at my neck for you to taste.
The Life Force of the Elders courses
Through my veins.
The perfect gift for you:
My love, my heart,
My Immortal Mate.

Another direction for my poetry and other writing

I’ve been a tossing around the idea of writing a vampire erotic romance novel or even a series. Since I’ve been a bit preoccupied with working on the Now and Forever series, changing things around a bit so to speak, I had put that idea on the back burner until yesterday.

My friend and fellow author Maya DeLeina suggested I write some vampire inspired poetry. She is looking for submissions in this vein (pun intended 😉 ) for a new website she is putting together that will feature authors of vampire novels.  I confided in her that I had been thinking of writing a series with vampires sort of inspired by my time playing the game Vampire Wars. Even with all the technical issues Zynga and Facebook have with that game, I had fun playing it for a while. I loved the intricate storie/plot lines they came up with for the challenges at each level. Why not create a world similar to that for my erotic romance novels?

I know what many of you are thinking. Why go off in so many different directions? Why not finish the series and ideas I already have plotted out? Well, my mind doesn’t work that way. I have to go where it takes me at the moment. If I don’t, the scene may be lost to me later. I have to write it down. That’s why I have several notebooks with me when I go to work at the veterinary hospital. If something hits, I jot down quick notes on any piece of paper, and then when I get a free moment, grab the notebook and write the scene all down.  I don’t write my novels in order from the beginning to the end. That’s not how I see the story. For me, it’s an ever evolving process. What I had originally plotted out, may not be how the story plays out.

For example, I didn’t originally plan to have Quinn fall in love with two men. I had originally planned on having her fall hard for Jake, him abandon her when she needed him the most, and her settling for her loveless marriage. What fun was that? I had to find a happily ever after, at least for the moment.  After watching an old episode of Grey’s Anatomy when the character Izzy falls in love with cardiac patient Denny, the idea for Steve was borne.  The actor’s smile and voice just kept playing in my head as I developed the story between Steve and Quinn.  Of course, he is the perfect contrast to Jake.  With both men, Quinn is able to learn to work through some devastating losses in her life and finally move forward into her own happily ever after.

Now for book two in the series. Originally I had planned on My Love, My Friend as the second book…second and third actually. Once again that story is long so I have split it up to give my heroine Sammi a happily every after for now with Nathan in My Love, My Friend.  The book that follows this one is the second half of their story reintroducing another love interest for her in the form of Michael, the man she’s been in love with for over a quarter century. I have finally settled on the title of that one as Faithfully Yours.  But…and it’s a big but, I felt that more of Jake’s story needed to be told especially after writing the short story A Christmas Miracle for Jake.  That small prequel helped explain how Jake and Quinn’s bond was so strong and helped me dip more into a bit of the paranormal by introducing their Guardian Angels.  So look for book two to be the expansion of this short story and be called The Island.

Didn’t I tell you that you haven’t seen the last of Quinn, her friends or her family? The Quartermarsh, Hartley, and Eischer families are going to be around for a while!

The other series that I have been slaving over is now called Songs of Fate. Book one of that series is based on one of my poems and has the same title The Vixen, the Witch, and the Daemon. I will be writing this series with another pen name: Lia Michaels.  The reason I’m doing that, is that the series will feature several menage scenes. Since I currently write M/F type erotic romances, I felt it was best to use another pen name to write M/F/M, and F/F/M and more. This series has witches, faeries, shifters, gods and goddesses interfering in the lives of these beings, vampires, elves and more.

Now don’t get all freaked out!  I will be writing the vampire M/F books as myself and leave the menage to Lia. The poetry will all be under my name as well. So much to do and so little time in the day. (sigh) Thank you all for following me along this journey. Let’s see how much fun we can have, shall we?

Blessed be,

Tammy

A hot and sexy Vampire has taken over the Blog!

I am Steffan Matthews. I am the vampire leader of Ambrose Heights and I am the guest blogger at Author Tammy Dennings Maggy’s Behind Closed Doors. “Guest” is a little bit of a reach now that the words have come out of my mouth. In actuality, she didn’t put up much of an argument once I flashed my fangs in the request, so maybe I should rephrase this to say I “took over” the blog.

My apologies to the lovely Ms. Maggy- I would never do anything to harm you. I must confess; the fangs were a bit of a faux pas on my part. They seem to descend on their own, overriding my self-control when I see a beautiful woman. I am a vampire, but don’t forget- I am still a man. To my credit, I did spare you the drool.

Well, now that I have composed myself, I am here and this is what I want to talk about- The story of my family and the woman that wrote the books, Maya DeLeina.

To start, take a look at the series that is based on my family.

The Ambrose Heights Vampires series

This Erotic Vampire Romance series follows the Matthew’s Lair as they intermingle with society, develop human-like serums, craft doctrines, connect with other vampire families and paranormal beings and search for their fated mates. They reside in the ultra-exclusive neighborhood of Ambrose Heights. Ambrose Heights sits high up on the mountain, overlooking the town of Manitou Springs, Colorado. And while the town is known for its healing spring waters, fabled underground passages and rumored lore of wizardry and witchcraft, the town’s residents find Ambrose Heights mysterious and inexplicable- they don’t quite know what to make of the gated community that seems to have appeared overnight. If only someone had done their homework. After all, the name Ambrose says it all- Immortal.

Maya DeLeina is the Author that brought my family’s stories to life. Here is an account of the day I met Maya DeLeina and how she became the author of the Ambrose Heights Vampires series.

Maya DeLeina took her time walking through castle. Admiring the antiques that I had collected over the years, she made her way to the great room where my family waited for her arrival in sheer anticipation.

The invitation we sent to her was for dusk. At this time of day, the mountain terrain that sat outside the floor to ceiling windows that flanked the entire length of the great room radiated in swirls or purple and pink hues. We thought this would calm her.

After all, we didn’t quite know how she was going to react being among the only human in a room full of vampires.

***

“Why me? Why did I get an invite here?” Maya asked. I had her seated in my Tibetan antique chair in front of the family. She looked calm and collected, but I could tell she was shaking on the inside.

“You know our town and we know you have the ability to craft some tantalizing tales.” I responded.

Maya nodded her head.

“And you know about us, who we are. Don’t you?” Rhys said in a menacing tone.

Maya nodded her head once again, signaling her affirmation in the statement. Her body stiffened in fear.

“Maya,” I called to her in a soothing tenor.

Maya turned her attention to me.

“We will be leaving Ambrose Heights soon. We can’t stay any longer. People are starting to wonder about us.” I said.

“Ok. What do you want from me exactly?” Maya asked.

“We want you to write about our family. We want others in the town to know who exactly we were and how “human” we live our life.”

Maya cleared her throat, “How do you want me to write this?”

I looked around the room to my family members. We had talked about what exactly we wanted from Maya DeLeina for quite some time now. I searched their eyes for confirmation and was met with overwhelming encouragement, “We envision a series, where each of us would have our own story. You know, talk about how we became a vampire, what happened here in Manitou Springs. Each of us has experienced wild and unique adventures.”

I paused, allowing for Maya to ask questions. She remained silent, looking at me in a trance.

“You will start with Rhys first. He and his mate had kept a diary of what happened, so this would be a good starting point for you. Then, I would like you to write about me. I will be leaving Ambrose Heights first since I have to set up our residence for the family.” I continued.

“Where are you guys moving to?”

I just smiled and remained unwaveringly silent.

“Oh, I – I get it.” Maya responded.

“After that, you can start interviewing everyone to see where you would like to go after that,” I explained.

Maya smiled and quickly reached for her laptop. The screen illuminated the excitement in her face as the device came to life. The keys on her keyboard popped with exhilaration. “So, I am thinking we can meet down at the coffee shop on a regular basis to go over my progress and answer any questions I have. They have fantastically comfortable winged-back chairs that…”

“No Maya. I don’t think you understand. As long as my family takes up residence here, there is no meeting outside in public on this.”

“What are you suggesting then?”

“What I am suggesting? Would you like to see your accommodations here at Ambrose Heights?”

“Are you serious? You want me to live here while I write about your family?”

“Yes. We want you here Maya. Does that bother you?”

“N-No. It’s just…” Maya stuttered.

“You will be safe. Trust me. When you start learning about our family, you will feel perfectly comfortable in our presence.” I explained.

“And we will have Vaughn pick up food to stock the kitchen with.” Eilian added.

“So Maya, what do you think?” asked Rhys.

Maya quickly turned her attention to her laptop. Her fingers moved like lightening over the keys.

“What are you writing over there?” I asked

“The title of the series.” Maya said plainly.

“So this means you accept?”

Maya looked up and smiled. She turned her laptop around to display what she had typed.

We all leaned in to look at what was displayed on the screen.

“Ambrose Heights Vampires.”
